Mediacom has begun offering multi-gig, symmetrical broadband to households in three Maryland towns, expanding its rural fiber reach.

Mediacom Communications has begun offering multi-gig and symmetrical broadband in parts of rural Maryland, with more than 2,000 households in Willards, Pittsville, and Whaleyville now able to order higher-speed service.

The rollout leverages upgrades to the company’s existing fiber-powered network, delivering faster uploads and downloads, lower latency and improved reliability without major new construction.

Medacoms says it expects to finish upgrading its entire Maryland market by the end of March next year and has published an interactive map residents can use to track progress.

The multi-gig service will be paired with an advanced Wi‑Fi option using eero’s TrueMesh and eero 7 hardware to improve in-home coverage, and with a newly launched Mediacom Mobile service that allows customers to use their service on the go via a wireless network partner.

Mediacom notes it is the fifth-largest cable operator in the U.S., delivering services to roughly 3 million households and businesses across 22 states, primarily in smaller markets in the Midwest and Southeast.
